Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance will welcome their fourth child, a boy, in July, the couple said in a joint statement on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Usha Vance announced the news on the official second lady X account, saying she and the baby were “doing well.”
“During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children,” the Vances said in their statement.
Their first son, Ewan, was born in 2017, followed by Vivek in 2020. The couple’s daughter, Mirabel, was born in 2021.

JD Vance
Born in Middletown, Ohio, JD Vance rose to fame with his 2016 memoir "Hillbilly Elegy."
Before he was elected vice president, Vance was the senator for Ohio and previously served in the Marines, being deployed to Iraq.
Usha Vance
Born Usha Chilukuri, the now-second lady was born and raised in San Diego. She met Vance in 2013 while they were both students at Yale Law School.
Before she hit the campaign trail with her husband, she worked at law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson. She left the firm when JD Vance secured the vice-presidential nomination.
They married in 2014 and had their three children – Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel – with a fourth child on the way.
Beverly Aikins
JD Vance’s mom is Beverly Aikins, whom the vice president talked about in his memoir “Hillbilly Elegy.” In the book, Vance recounts her struggle with substance use as well as his turbulent childhood in Middletown, Ohio.
The vice president honored his mother last year at the White House as she marked 10 years of sobriety.
"You made it, and we made it. And most importantly, you’re celebrating a very, very big milestone. And I’m just very proud of you," the VP said at the time.
Krish and Lakshmi Chilukuri
The parents of Usha Vance moved from India to the United States in the 1970s.
According to Town & Country Magazine, Usha Vance's mom, Dr. Lakshmi Chilukuri, is a professor in the Molecular Biology department at UC San Diego.
Her father, Dr. Krish Chilukuri, is a professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at San Diego State University.
Lindsay Vance
Vance writes about his older half-sister, Lindsay, in his book “Hillbily Elegy.” In a 2016 interview with the Dayton Daily News, Lindsay Vance said her half-brother was her top priority during their difficult childhood.
“The kid has never done wrong in my eyes. J.D. has a part of my soul that nobody will ever have and I’ll protect him until the day I die,” she said. “Whenever things were falling apart, my first thought was always him.”
