Olivia Wilde shared how co-parenting with ex-husband Jason Sudeikis has shifted her mindset when it comes to motherhood during the June 17 episode of Call Her Daddy
The actress shared that co-parenting with her ex-husband gives her the balance of being fully present with her kids and having space to focus on her career
Wilde believes their co-parenting dynamic allows their children to experience the best versions of both of their parents
Olivia Wilde shared how co-parenting has changed her mindset as a mom of two.
During the Wednesday, June 17 episode of Call Her Daddy, the actress and director, 42, opened up about how co-parenting her two children — daughter Daisy, 9, and son Otis, 12 — with ex-husband Jason Sudeikis has shifted the way she thinks about motherhood. Wilde told host Alex Cooper that she values being able to balance parenting responsibilities with Sudeikis.
"I really value the opportunity to be completely present with them, and then to hand them off to a very capable co-parent who is very present with them when he's with them," she explained. "Then, I have this space, which is permission to then go work my f---ing ass off."
She went on to share that she believes her and Sudeikis' kids are getting the "best of us" thanks to co-parenting, explaining they work "really well" together.
"I actually find this divvying up of responsibility in a way can allow for really amazing parenting because we are always our best with our kids," she said. "They get the best of us."
"I mean, we are great f---ing co-parents," Wilde continued. "These kids are consistently getting the best of us in a way that when we were together was not possible because we did not work together, but we work really well as separated co-parents. When I talk to people who are just in very unhappy situations and staying in it for the kids, I'm like, 'You're doing no one any favors.' "
Elsewhere in the podcast, the director talked about the double standards she has faced in her career and her dating life. During the conversation, Wilde noted that it "hurt" when others would claim she "forgot" she was a mom while dating ex Harry Styles, 32, following her divorce. She said that the public's reaction to her was a stark difference from how they'd treat the Ted Lasso star, 50.

Recalling stories about Wilde and Styles at the time, in which she was called out for "abandoning her family" and "moving on too quickly," Cooper, 31, asked how the actress felt when reading those headlines.
"That hurt," she said. "I remember there was a Thanksgiving, and we were separated, and I was with the kids because it was my time to be with the kids. Everything was as it should be. Kids were with me, and Jason was photographed with his girlfriend on the beach in Costa Rica or something. And the press were like, 'Yay for him. He looks so happy, so wonderful.' "

"And I was like, if I was away from my children on a national holiday frolicking on a beach, it'd be like, literally, just burn her at the stake now," she said. "Take the kids away from her forever and burn her to the ground. It would have been used in the court of law."
Wilde shared how people would react when she was away from her kids, calling the entire situation "nuts."
"And then I would, on my weeks when I wasn't [with the kids], and I would be somewhere, people would be like, 'Well, my, my, my. Oh, she forgot her kids. I guess she forgot she's a mom.' It was nuts," she said.
