Lionel Richie is sharing how proud he is to be becoming a grandpa again after his daughter Sofia Richie Grainge welcomed her second baby.

The singer, 76, spoke with USA Today in an interview shared on TikTok on Tuesday, March 31, and shared what the best part of seeing his family expand has been.

"The beautiful part about it is that the family keeps growing and my pride keeps popping out of my chest," Richie said. "But it's wonderful. Everyone is happy, and that's the part I love the most. Just watching everyone blossom."

"Pop Pop is out there again," he continued. "Isn't that funny? I came here thinking I am Mr. Richie, Mr. Richie. Now I'm Papa Richie on American Idol."

On March 25, Richie Grainge announced that she and her husband, Elliot Grainge, had welcomed their second baby, son Henry Ceci. The newly minted mom of two shared a picture of her baby boy cuddling with his big sister, Eloise, in a post on her Instagram.

"Henry Cecil Grainge 💙 03/18/26," Richie Grainge wrote in her caption. "Loves of my life."

In the picture, Henry wore a blue onesie and rested on his sister. Although both of Richie Grainge's kids' faces are out of the shot, Eloise could be seen wearing denim shorts and a pink bib.

Alongside Richie Grainge's kids, Richie is also granddad to daughter Nicole's two kids — Kate, 18, and Sparrow, 16, whom she shares with husband Joel Madden.

Back in October, Richie appeared on Today with Jenna & Friends and shared that his new hobby has been gardening. He then went on to recall his grandson's shock at a brutal technique.

"I'm now the gardener. As Sparrow my grandson says, 'Pop Pop's in the garden destroying the environment!' " joked Richie, who was promoting his new memoir, Truly. "Because what I do is cut back...one time I decided to cut back the hedges, of all places and times to do it, I did it in the spring."

"A bird's nest fell onto the ground. 'Pop Pop is killing the animals!' " Richie hilariously recalled of Sparrow's assessment of his gardening. "Who took it personally was who was at the house — Nicole [Richie], Madden's twin Benji's wife [Cameron [Diaz], and they go, 'Oh my God.'"

"So they grab the bird. [Sparrow] goes, 'Pop Pop, you're killing the bird.' And of course, after that, I just abandon the family completely. No good deed goes unpunished."
