- Jon Stewart blames JD Vance's failure during the weekend's US-Iran peace talks in Switzerland on a "classic diplomatic faux pas."
- *The Daily Show* host rolled a viral clip of the vice president appearing to pick his nose and wipe it on a chair.
- "Oh, no! He went for the pick-and-wipe," Stewart exclaimed.
Vice President JD Vance's recent failure to negotiate the end of war in Iran can be blamed on a "classic diplomatic faux pas," according to Jon Stewart.
On Monday's *The Daily Show*, Stewart reported on the abrupt conclusion of the weekend's US-Iran peace talks in Obbuergen, Switzerland, which he illustrated with a viral video of the vice president being snubbed by mediators from Qatar and Pakistan as they greeted one another, but ignored the American.
"Well, that is awkward," Stewart noted. "JD Vance really answers the question, what if a middle school dance were a person?"

As the peace talks commenced, the situation worsened for Vance, who seemed to be "getting more and more exasperated as the mean girls just couldn't see that he has a lot to offer too," Stewart mocked. "And why were they possibly so mad?"
A second look at the footage hinted at a potential "health-code violation" rather than a diplomatic snub, *The Daily Show* host mused.

To prove his point, Stewart gave a play-by-play of the offending action: the VP using two fingers on his left hand to dig into his nose.
"Oh, he went for the pick! He went for the pick!" Stewart shouted. Then, as Vance's hand then rested on the seat in front of him, he continued, "Oh, no! He went for the pick-and-wipe… Classic diplomatic faux pas: the pick-and-wipe."
The only thing worse, Stewart joked, was "the men's room pee-and-peek, which, as many of you know, started the Franco-Prussian war."

The host circled back to Vance's failure with Iran later in the episode when reporting on Donald Trump's pledge to help create a $300 billion reconstruction fund for the country.
"Look, if this is what we're giving the Iranians, I don't understand why the Iranians are snubbing JD Vance," Stewart remarked. "They should be kissing his booger-laden ring."
