A former Cartier employee revealed the special accessory Carolyn Bessette Kennedy bought for herself and close friend Carole Radziwill nearly one year before her death in July 1999
In a new Instagram post, Guy Clark shared that the late publicist purchased bands to wear as toe rings for $378.88

Carolyn Bessette Kennedy was known for her sartorial minimalism and rarely wore jewelry, except when it had special meaning.
Guy Clark, a close friend of Carolyn's and a former jeweler at Cartier's Fifth Avenue Mansion, revealed on Instagram that the late fashion publicist bought matching "toe rings" for herself and cousin-in-law Carole Radziwill in the late '90s, nearly one year before her death in 1999.
In an Instagram video posted on April 3, Clark revealed a Cartier receipt proving Carolyn's purchase, made under "Mrs. John F. Kennedy." It was marked with the date of sale, Aug. 3, 1998, and showed that each gold band, which was seemingly a wedding band, cost $175 each.
Clark wrote in the caption that the former Calvin Klein employee bought the pair for her and Radziwill to wear "during summers at the beach" and that it was "a symbol of love and friendship."

Radziwill, 62, was astonished to know that Clark still has documentation of the special gift, commenting on the post, "Ohhh this made me cry. I cannot believe you still have the receipt."
Although Clark was famously known for being the seller of Carolyn's most memorable jewelry, including the Cartier Tank watch, there was a time when he was on the receiving end.
While appearing on an episode of the Miss Understood podcast, he recalled the kindness she showed his family after his sister died. "She came in around Mother's Day, and she said, 'Guy, show me what you would buy for your mother for Mother's Day.' And I picked out a pair of earrings, they were like $1,800 or something, and she bought them for her mother," he told host Rachel Uchitel. But she ended up gifting them to his mother because she had just lost a child. "That's the kind of person she was that nobody knows."

Radziwill was related to Carolyn and her husband, John F. Kennedy Jr., through marriage to JFK Jr.'s first cousin Anthony Radziwill. He died from cancer in August 1999, less than a month after JFK Jr., Carolyn and her sister Lauren Bessette were killed in a plane crash.
Despite her close connection to the family, Radziwill is not shown in Love Story, the first season of which is inspired by the publicity around Carolyn and JFK Jr.'s marriage.
In a March 2026 interview with TV Insider, the show's executive producer, Brad Simpson, said that not including Radziwill in the limited drama was simply a creative decision so that they could focus more on Carolyn's relationship with her sister.

“People’s lives are full and rich," Simpson told the outlet. "There’s tons of people in them, and you have to make decisions. And a decision we made was to really focus on creating Lauren, her sister, as a character because she was often an afterthought in all of this."
The Real Housewives of New York City star has not commented on her absence from the show. In a February 2026 post on her Substack, she wrote about witnessing the private lives of two of her friends continually dissected and retold in projects like Love Story. But she is "at peace with it all now" and no longer worries "about misrepresentations, false narratives, or bent truths." She added that she would not be watching the FX series.
